We are very pleased to offer for sale this simply stunning original Gents Vintage Rolex in 9K solid gold and in the larger than usual Tonneau case and in beautifully restored condition. The three part solid yellow gold case has Glasgow UK 9K hallmarks indicating the watch was manufactured and assayed in 1933.

Note the size of this watch : Large for the period, 27mm wide without the crown and 37mm overall length, making it suitable for a gentleman or lady, today.

Inside the case back can be found the original turnings finish and ROLEX, 25 WORLD RECORDS, GENEVA-SUISSE, R.W.C. Ltd.

Tonneau cased Rolex watches are extremely rare and alway fetch a premium price as they are one of the most sought after of all the vintage Rolex cases. Very few were made and this example remains in absolutely superb all round condition. The three piece watch case and hand wind watch movement has been fully overhauled and restored by a Rolex trained watchmaker.

The period is later art deco and these influences can be seen in the dial and overall design. The original dial has been restored to the highest standards in the original off-white/cream colour and as can be seen, the dial has deep black arabic numerals all complimented by a new a clear watch glass. The beautiful (new as original) ‘alpha’ style blued steel hour and minute hands are exactly correct along with the exquisite small subsidiary second hand at 6 o’clock.

As can be seen the watch is triple signed, on the dial, on the movement and the case. All the markings match and are completely correct for 1933.

The original Rolex ‘Extra Prima’ 15 Jewels movement winds, sets and runs exactly as it should and is keeping accurate time. The movement is in great order having just undergone a full service by a Rolex trained watchmaker.

This watch would sell for around £6,500 in the fancy Bond Street or Burlington Arcade, London Stores. We feel that at our price for this wonderful piece of Rolex history represents a magnificent bargain and a fine investment.
