Description

In fine original condition, fully inspected and serviced, this beautiful 1950s 9ct Rolex Precision is just wonderful inside and out. The dial is original and untouched and adds a great deal of charm to the watch. The high grade 17 jewel movement is looking absolutely perfect, in fact just like new!

The Case

Having been lightly polished the fully hallmarked 9K yellow gold case has no dings, scratches or marks. The edges of the case are crisp and clean indicating the watch has been very well cared for, probably only used on special occasions as a dress watch. The press fit case back is an excellent tight fit. Inside there are proper 9ct gold hallmarks along with: 9 0375 12868 Dennison Made In England For Rolex A.L.D. 882292. The case size is 31mm not including the crown. This is a mid-size Rolex case for the year although smaller than today’s standards.

The Dial and Crystal

The original unrestored cream-white dial is in excellent unrestored condition with no spots, pitting or freckling. The dial is full of charm with perfect gold ‘leaf’ design hands complimented by 1-12 gold numerals. The lens is completely clear and unmarked. Please note the photographs are showing the dial under quite high magnification and most of the imperfections and marks and particularly the smudging of the minutes track are caused by either watch or camera lens distortion. Please compare all of the photographs carefully to get the ‘full’ picture…

The Movement

This is a high grade 17 Jewels Rolex movement known for being very accurate, reliable and strong. As can be seen from the photographs it is exceedingly clean and bright condition. In fact it looks completely untouched except for professional servicing. It is marked MONTRES ROLEX SA GENEVA SWISS and SEVENTEEN JEWELS and numbered N57756 and 1200. The movement has just been serviced and is running perfectly. It winds perfectly, just as it should and is also running strongly. The movement has been calibrated for accuracy and is now ready many more years of reliable service. The movement carries a twelve months warranty* and we will be very pleased to arrange further servicing in two to three years time if you wish.

The Strap and Buckle

The strap is a new high quality dark nut brown croc leather which compliments the 9K yellow gold case very nicely. The buckle is a matching aftermarket Rolex yellow gold plate.

What’s Included…

Along with the watch, the ‘Buy It Now’ price includes the high quality hard wood presentation case shown in the photographs. The ‘B.I.N.’ price also includes our 12 months written warranty on the movement*. This is detailed on your written receipt which is supplied with the watch. The watch is supplied on 7 days approval i.e. sale or return, 14 days for international customers. This is also detailed on our written receipt. We will also provide you an insurance valuation in case of loss and this will be for the replacement value. Delivery within the UK is also included for free. International delivery is included for £45.00

If the watch is being sent or taken abroad and the warranty isn’t so important to you, we are able to reduce the price a little. Likewise if you prefer not to take the vintage Rolex box.

In Conclusion

This a beautiful typically late ’50s / early ’60s vintage 9ct gold watch from the most famous name in Swiss watch making. Having now been fully restored and serviced with a new high quality strap it is now ready to wear. This mint totally condition vintage Rolex is a rare find and great value at this price.

At this price the watch is excellent value considering a new equivalent Rolex 9K dress watch would retail at around £12,000 today. Further, a vintage 1950s or early 1960s 9K gold Rolex in this condition, would be on sale for £5,000 to £8,000 in a Bond Street store or in the Burlington Arcade in Central London.

From an investment point of view, there is no question which is the better buy.

This 1953 Rolex would also make a wonderful special anniversary or birthday gift and an excellent investment or heirloom piece.

Please note it is difficult to capture the full beauty of a vintage watch even in a good series of photographs. Needless to say, it is a much more rewarding experience to hold the watch and of course, to wear it with pride.
