Here we have the most elegant Ladies Rolex Oyster Date dress watch in 18K solid rose gold with its original matching 18K solid rose gold bracelet all in absolutely mint and very clean condition. The watch is presented in its original velvet ‘Ladies Oyster’ presentation box. The watch has been fully restored and serviced and is ready to wear. 

 The Dial

The simple, classically styled silver dial is original and refinished to the highest possible standards. The raised rose gold batons, minutes track and ‘stick’ hands and ‘crown’ are all classically Rolex and still contemporary today. The dial is marked ‘Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date’ and ‘Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified’ meaning this watch is certified as ‘Chronometer Grade’ by official Swiss accuracy and reliability testing.

The Case

There are very few signs of wear to this watch or bracelet and it is obviously very well cared for and perhaps only ever worn only on special occasions. The 18K solid rose gold case case has been very lightly cleaned and polished and is in superb condition with virtually no signs of wear – the screw fit case-back is still its full thickness and has never been engraved. The case diameter measures just over 32mm wide, excluding the winding crown and 38mm, including the lugs. Inside the case back carries an early Rolex legend, signed MONTRES ROLEX S.A. GENEVA SWITZERLAND, with the correct 18ct gold Geneva hallmarks.

The Movement

The original ‘Superlative Chronometer’ grade Rolex automatic movement is in superb condition and again has been very well cared for. It is correctly signed ‘MONTRES ROLEX GENEVA SA’, ‘GENEVA SWISS’, ‘TWENTY SIX JEWELS’, all of which matches the case absolutely. The watch has the correct early ‘50s butterfly rotor marked ROLEX PERPETUAL and with the tall Rolex ‘crown’.

These movements are very strong and reliable and seemingly run forever!   All spare parts are readily available for this watch and with regular servicing say every every 3 to 4 years we would confidently expect this watch to last another lifetime!

The Bracelet

The watch is found on its original matching 18ct rose gold lady’s bracelet in almost unworn condition. The bracelet is sprung, meaning each of the links has tiny expansion springs which help it to fit a 6 1/4″  to  6 1/2″ inch  wrist. The bracelet also has the correctly marked Rolex concealed folding clasp for fitting or removing from the wrist. The bracelet carries the correct 18ct hallmarks. 

Box and Papers

This Rolex Oyster Date Perpetual comes with its beautiful original and exceedingly rare Ladies Rolex Oyster presentation box which is still in excellent condition. Although there are no original papers with the watch the numbers and hallmarks are all correct and date the watch to 1953. A written detailed receipt, with a separate insurance valuation for its replacement value will be provided at the time of sale. 

In Conclusion

This is a highly desirable and collectable vintage gold watch from horology’s most famous name, which will provide an excellent investment as well as something to treasure and enjoy. This is one of the very best examples to be found and if there is a piece of buying advice which is heard most often it is ‘Buy the Best’. As each year goes by the world market for vintage Swiss gold watches grows exponentially and the law of supply and demand  means prices climb ever higher!
