Ladies Rolex 18K Cocktail Watch, 1921 – Sorry Now Sold 30th Nov. ’16

Here we have a wonderful example of a Rolex Lady’s Cocktail Watch in 18ct yellow gold from 1921. This an early Rolex watch from the company we know today, namely Montres Rolex S.A. which first became established in Geneva in 1919.

The Case

The original hinged tonneau style case has beautiful hand engraving work to the sides and remains in immaculate condition. The case carries Sheffield, U.K. hallmarks which date the watch to 1921. The case also carries the external reference number 526792. The diameter of the case is 15mm not including the crown and 30mm in length including the lugs.

The Dial

The beautiful original art-deco dial with original blued steel hands has been restored to its original condition by our dial restorers who are one of the best, if not the best, in the UK.

The Movement

The original Rolex Calibre.20 15 Jewels Prima movement is very high grade and was timed to 6 positions. The watch movement has been fully overhauled and serviced by our watchmaker who reports it to be in fine condition. We are therefore happy to offer this watch with our 12 months warranty*. Although Rolex watches of this period have reliable and accurate movement, they need to be treated with some care. Therefore while perfectly suited for special occasions this watch will not be so suitable for every day use.

The Strap and Buckle

The watch is fitted with a new burgundy leather strap with a gold plated buckle. Please note if a different colour or style of strap is preferred, please let us know and we will do our best to oblige free of charge.

The Box and Papers

Although there is no original paperwork with this watch, the reference numbers, markings, signatures and hallmarks are all correct and date the watch to 1921.

This watch comes complete with its original Rolex jewellers presentation box, as shown.

Detailed particulars are included with the receipt, along with our 12 months Warranty*.  A separate insurance valuation for the replacement value will be provided at the time of sale. This will also include our ‘Lifetime Authenticity Guarantee’ which states: “If this watch proves to be anything less than totally authentic, or not as described, Vintage Gold Watches of London will offer you a full refund at any time”.
