Description

This is a quite special gents Rolex Precision dress watch from 1959 with the rare red and black date function. Very few Rolex Precisions were made with a date function and this makes this watch particularly rare and valuable. In keeping with Rolex ‘Oyster Date’ watches of the same period, the date numerals alternate between red and black as the date changes. This convention was only held for a short time period. The original white quilted dial on this watch has been superbly restored to the very highest standard. The large size 34mm watch case is of a classical design with ornate sculpted lugs. The case holds a high grade Calibre 1210, 17 Jewels movement in spotless condition.

The Dial

The original white quilted dial has been freshly restored to the highest standard. As can be seen in the photographs, the applied guilt number and original hands are in superb condition.

The Case

The large sized 34mm three piece case is in excellent condition with no scratches, dings or marks visible to the naked eye. It has been carefully restored through expert cleaning and polishing to bring it back to close to ‘as new’ condition. Inside the case back can be found all the correct markings for 9ct gold and Dennison the case maker to Rolex of the period.

The Movement

Inside the case the original high grade Calibre 1210, 17 jewel manual wind movement is in sparkling clean condition. It has been thoroughly inspected and serviced and it is now running perfectly. It is correctly signed ‘MONTRES ROLEX SA GENEVA’, ‘SWISS’, and ‘SEVENTEEN JEWELS’ with the calibre no.1210 and serial number N88XXX. These movements are very strong, very accurate and very reliable! This particular movement is in superb condition and with regular servicing, say every 3 to 4 years we would fully expect this watch to run very happily for many more years to come! The Strap & Buckle

A new very high quality, matching brown ‘croc’ leather, padded strap is fitted along with a gold plated Rolex buckle.

Box and Papers

Although there are no original papers with this watch, the numbers and markings are all correct, dating the watch to 1959. A detailed written receipt, with 12 months written warranty* and a separate insurance valuation for the replacement value will be provided at the time of sale. The watch is also supplied a high quality hardwood presentation box as shown in the photograph.
