Description
This stunningly elegant 9k gold Rolex Precision gentleman’s dress watch is in near mint condition and has the rare and original Sunburst dial which is amazingly bright and quite breathtaking. The watch also has an even rarer ornately decorated bezel. The watch has been thoroughly checked and fully serviced by our watchmaker.
The Dial
An outstanding feature of this watch is the rare sunburst dial which is very bright and shimmers wonderfully as it catches the light. The colour varies from champagne yellow to sunset gold as do the original gilt hands. It is difficult to properly reproduce this in these photographs but suffice to say it looks significantly more attractive in real life! This is the original unrestored dial, which is in fabulous condition.
The Case
A further outstanding feature of this watch is the solid 9K yellow gold with the beautiful and very rare ornate bezel. The case and bezel are in superb condition with no scratches or dings visible to the naked eye. The case measures 33mm in diameter, not including the crown. The case has been professionally cleaned and gently polished to once more look like new.
The Movement
The sparklingly clean hand wound 17 jewel, 1215 Calibre movement looks to be in almost as new condition and is running perfectly following it’s overhaul and service in December 2014. It is marked ‘Montres Rolex SA Geneva Swiss’, ‘Seventeen 17 Jewels’ and the movement number is ’0735′. The high grade Rolex Cal.1215 movement is highly regarded for it’s reliability and accuracy. As watch has just been serviced by our watchmaker and is in such great condition, we are very confident offering this watch with twelve months warranty on the movement*. Following it’s overhaul and service this watch was tested and calibrated on 20th January 2015. The 21600 beat movement was found be extraordinarily accurate, performing consistently in 4 different positions, within + or – 4 seconds / day when fully wound. The power reserve was also tested and found to be 53 hours! Note, these results are following a service and performance and may vary in use. The Strap & Buckle
The watch benefits from a new high quality conker Lizard Skin strap and matching gold plated after market Rolex buckle.
The Box and Papers
Although there are no original papers with this watch, all the numbers and markings on the watch are correct, dating the watch to 1964. A detailed written receipt, with a 12 month warranty* and a separate insurance valuation (for the replacement value in the event of loss) will be provided at the time of sale. In Conclusion
This is a superb example of an iconic gent’s 1960’s vintage 9ct gold Rolex in immaculate condition. It is completely practical and ready for wear as an everyday watch and if treated carefully, it will make an excellent investment or heirloom piece, particularly when kept in such superb condition.
