Rolex Precision 9K, 1958 Rare Dial & Hands

Description

This is a most elegant gentleman’s 9ct Rolex Precision dress watch from 1958 with rare hands and dial. The classic Gold Rolex Crown and ‘3 6 9’ over white dial is our favourite design. This is a very clean and well cared for example which has been fully restored, to bring it back to almost new condition once more. The watch has a 9K solid gold 32mm diameter case (not including the crown), which is in excellent condition. The case is medium sized by the standards of the period. It carries a high grade Cal 1200 manual wind movement which is in fantastic condition.

The Dial

This is a rare white quilted dial with gold Rolex Crown at 12 o’clock, classic 3, 6 & 9 numerals and gold batons on a creamy white dial with outer minutes markers. The original, rare, gold ‘Hollow Alpha’ hands are in excellent condition. The dial is simply signed Rolex and Precision and has a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. This dial has been restored to a very high standard and the lens clean and unmarked.. The dial is very clear and easy to read in low light.

The Case

This is an elegant solid 9ct gold two piece case which measures 32mm in diameter not including the crown. The case has been professionally cleaned and lightly polished and is in superb condition. There is little or no evidence of wear and few or no marks visible to the naked eye. Inside case back all the markings are correct and as expected for a Rolex Swiss made case : Rolex Crown, ROLEX, R.W.C. model 6904 and full hallmarks for 9ct, .375 gold.

The Movement

Inside the case, the original high grade Cal 1200 Rolex hand wind movement is incredibly clean and bright. It has just been fully serviced and is running perfectly. It is again correctly signed ‘MONTRES ROLEX SA GENEVA’, ‘SWISS’, and ‘SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS’ with serial number N57530. These movements are very strong and reliable! This particular movement is in superb condition and with regular servicing, say every 3 to 4 years we would fully expect this watch to run very happily for many more years to come!

The Strap & Buckle

A very high quality, new black leather, padded strap is fitted with an aftermarket gold plated Rolex buckle.

The Box and Papers

There are no original papers with this watch. However the numbers and markings on the watch are all correct and date the watch to 1958. A detailed written receipt, with a 12 months warranty* and a separate insurance valuation for the replacement value will be provided at the time of sale. The watch comes with the high quality hardwood presentation box as shown.

This beautiful and rare vintage 9ct gold Rolex Precision is in superb condition, ready for use and is completely practical, useable and wearable today.
