Here we have a most elegant and just beautiful example of a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Bombé 14K Automatic, dress watch, Model ref 6090 from 1951. Often also known as the “Bombay” by collectors, referring to the bombé (sculpted round) lugs of the watch case. These Bombé lugs along with the honeycomb dial of this watch are highly sought after among collectors. They elevate the watch case and dial much further towards a classic, vintage dress watch. These, along with the beautiful Dauphine hands and arrow-heads dial and gold dot minute markers, make this one of the most attractive and desirable vintage Rolex watches. The dial has been restored to the very highest standards by one of the UK’s foremost dial restorers and their work is exquisite. The plain bezel is in perfect condition as is the rest of the watch case, with no scratches, nicks dings or marks of any kind, visible to the naked eye.

As can be seen the movement is also in sparkling condition, following a recent full overhaul and service by our watchmaker, a vintage Rolex specialist. We therefore have no reservations in offering a full 12 months parts and labour warranty with this watch and for £350 we will be happy to extend this to 5 years and service the watch for you free of charge, when it is due, in 3-4 years time. These movements are known for their reliability and accuracy and we can recommend this watch as perfectly well suited for everyday use as long as it is kept clean and dry at all times*

Perhaps the most outstanding feature of this watch, apart from the Bombé lugs and the Honeycomb dial, is the condition, which ever way you look and from any angle is just superb!

Regarding the choice of strap, we think the new brown crocodile strap fitted, suits the watch. But if you have another preference, for example something from the Hirsch range, we will be happy to oblige at no extra charge. For  inspiration please take a look at our partner’s website at:

Please call if you have any questions as we will be delighted to discuss all aspects of any of our watches and our services. And incidentally, while this watch was  produced by Rolex as a gent’s dress watch, it could be equally suitable today, for a lady.

*Please note that although this watch was marketed as waterproof when new, we have not tested this and it is not guaranteed. We recommend vintage watches are kept clean and dry at all times!
