This is an incredibly smooth and stylish looking gents 18ct Rolex Oyster Perpetual dress watch from 1965 with wonderful original champagne dial with date function which has been fully restored to a standard which Rolex itself would be proud of! Not only does it have very beautiful dial but it has a highly attractive smooth bezel is also quite rare.

This fully restored watch has a superb 34mm large diameter case (not including the Rolex crown). This carries a very high grade Cal 1570 ‘Superlative Chronometer’ automatic movement which is in spotless condition.

The Dial

This dial is original to this watch and which has been restored to the very highest standard. Much like their modern champagne dials, this dial has a slight starburst effect emanating from its centre. The dial has the the original ‘stick’ hands and batons which are also in superb condition. This watch has also has a centre seconds hand and date function. This is a really superb looking dial and we have tried to capture this in the photographs, but it is difficult and needless to say the dial and watch looks much better in real life! The lens is also in superb condition.

The Case

The case has an original and rare smooth bezel which adds the the distinctiveness (and value) of the watch. The case is 34mm (not inc the crown) in diameter made of 14ct yellow gold case, has been very well cared for. It has been lightly restored through expert polishing bringing it back to almost ‘as new’ condition. The case has a screw down Rolex Oyster crown and screw down case back complete with new rubber seal. Inside the case back the markings are all correct for a Rolex Geneva Swiss made case : MONTRES ROLEX S.A, GENEVA SWITZERLAND, R.W.C. LTD reference 2665XXX and correct Swiss hallmarks for 14ct gold.

The Movement

Inside the case the original very high grade ‘Superlative Chronometer’ 26 jewel automatic movement is in sparkling clean condition. It has been fully serviced and it is now running perfectly. It is all correctly signed ‘MONTRES ROLEX SA GENEVA’, ‘SWISS’, and ‘TWENTY SIX 26 JEWELS’ with the Serial number D833XXX the Calibre 1570. These movements are very strong, very accurate and very reliable! This particular movement is in superb A1 condition and with regular servicing, say every 3 to 4 years we would fully expect this watch to run very happily for many more years to come! We are very happy to offer a 12 months warranty on this watch movement.*

The Strap & Buckle

A new very high quality, matching blue ‘croc’ leather, padded strap is fitted along with an aftermarket gold plated Rolex buckle.

Box, Papers and Warranty

Although there are no original papers supplied with this watch, the numbers and markings are all correct, dating the watch to 1965. Also, a detailed written receipt, with 12 months written warranty* and a separate insurance valuation for the replacement value will be provided at the time of sale. The watch is also supplied with inner and outer presentation boxes* as shown in the photograph.

*The 12 month warranty is only applicable and the Box only included if the full listing price is paid.

This beautiful vintage 18ct gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual is in superb restored condition and ready for use. With care it is completely practical, useable and wearable today. It also represents a great investment, particularly when in such wonderful condition.
