I have no hesitation in recommending.
From start to finish the service I have received has been excellent. Kirsty has kept me informed all the way and the level of the finished repair to a very old and worn vintage watch was exemplary.

ABOUT THIS WATCH

Description

This is a beautifully restored Gent’s 18ct Omega Cal. 265 from 1947. This is a watch which simply breathes status and high quality with its large sized 36mm diameter, 18ct solid rose gold case and ornately sculpted lugs and beautifully styled dial. This watch carries a high grade movement indicated by the red star on the dial along with the the oversized subsidiary seconds dial. These denote the Cal.256 chronometer grade movement, famous for winning first prize ‘for precision’ i.e. accuracy and reliability at the Kew Observatory trials in 1946. This is an ‘important watch’ for standards of accuracy and reliability attained, – see Movement.

The Dial

The ‘1950’s modern’ style is beautifully designed with clean applied rose gold hour markers over a lightly grained butter milk, lightly grained dial, signed Omega, with a red star below which denotes a chronometer grade movement. Please take a close look at the photos of this fabulous dial with applied matching button and arrow head hour markers. – This is the original dial, which has been restored to the very highest standards.

The Case

In superb condition, – measures 36mm diameter not including the crown – the lightly polished 18ct solid rose gold two piece case is in ‘as new’ condition. It clicks together satisfyingly strongly. The case back carries an 18K mark on the outside. The case has been professionally cleaned and polished and has no significant scratches, marks or dents visible to the naked eye.

The Movement

The Calibre 265 was a development of the Omega 30T2 calibre famous for its high standards of accuracy and reliability, beating all competitors including Patek Phillipe and Rolex at the Kew Observatory Precision Trials. The red star which is featured beneath the Omega logo identifies the watch as being equipped with the same type of calibre as that which obtained the best result up until that point at the 1940 and 1946 Kew Teddington Precision Competitions.

The Omega copper-toned Calibre 265 movement here, looks spectacularly pristine and our watchmaker has commented that this particular movement has been very lightly used and very well cared for. It is marked – 15 jewels – and with serial number 40767728 which indicates the date of manufacture as 1947 – The movement winds, runs & sets smoothly and is in superb working order and keeping excellent time.

This watch has just been fully overhauled and serviced by our Omega guru and it is calibrated to run arrow straight within + or – 5 second / day!  This is no exaggeration.  We have seen the test results from an electronic watch test instrument and in its half wound state this watch is running accurately within 5 seconds per day!. We are therefore more than happy to offer a 12 months warranty on the movement of this watch*.

The Strap and Buckle

The watch is complimented with a very high quality ‘croc’ leather strap  – with an aftermarket gold plated Omega buckle. If a new Omega strap is preferred, this can be fitted for an extra £40!

Box and Papers

Although there are no original papers with this watch, the numbers and markings on the watch are all correct and date the watch to 1947. A detailed written receipt, warranty* and a separate insurance valuation for the replacement value will be provided at the time of sale. The watch will be supplied in the new good quality presentation box shown in the photographs.

In Conclusion

You be so pleased you bought this watch! Overall it is in superb condition and cannot be faulted. If you would like to buy a Classic, 40’s/50s Vintage, 18ct gold Omega this is hard to beat, and it comes with 12 months guarantee*!

*12 Warranty is only applicable if the list price is paid.
