Description
Here we have the most beautiful example of the classic, gold Rolex Precision dress watch from 1962. The 3 – 6 – 9 Arabic numerals with arrow-heads and Crown in raised gilt, along with ‘Rolex’ over a white face make this a particularly attractive dial.
The Dial
This is the original dial for this watch which has been newly restored to the very highest standards by our dial restorers who are considered one of the best in the UK. The gold ‘leaf’ hands and blued steel centre seconds are new as is the glass, making this a stunning dial.
The Movement
The watch carries its original high grade Rolex Calibre 1215 Precision movement which as can be seen, is in sparkling clean condition! This movement has been disassembled, cleaned, inspected and rebuilt using original Rolex parts where required by our vintage Rolex specialist watchmaker. When final tested on 10th July, this watch was calibrated and running to within 10 seconds per day, which is exceptional for a watch of this age. The movement is all correctly signed ‘MONTRES ROLEX SA GENEVA’, ‘SWISS’, and ‘SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS’ and the Calibre number 1215 and ref 81687. These movements are strong, accurate and very reliable making this watch is perfectly suited for regular everyday use. This particular movement is in A1 condition and with regular servicing every 3 to 4 years, we would fully expect this watch to run happily for many more decades to come! The Case
The two piece case and bezel are all in exceptional condition with no marks or scratches visible to the naked eye. This watch case has been very well cared for and therefore the case has simply required a careful clean and gentle polish to bring it back to its current ‘like new’ condition. The outside of the case-back is unmarked and polished and has never been engraved. The case measures 32mm in diameter, not including the original crown and so this is a standard size Rolex Precision for the period. Inside the case-back, the markings are all correct for a Rolex case made by one of their two U.K. case-makers, Dennison, along with reference number 22162. The case-back also carries Edinburgh 9ct hallmarks which date this watch to 1962.
The Strap and Buckle
The watch is fitted with a new high quality tan leather strap and gold plated Rolex buckle. Please note if a different colour or style of strap is preferred, please let us know and we will do our best to oblige free of charge.
The Box and Papers
Although there are no original papers with this watch, all the numbers and markings on the watch are correct, dating the watch to 1962. A detailed written receipt with a 12 Month warranty* and a separate insurance valuation for the replacement value will be provided at the time of sale. A matching presentation box shown will be included in the sale.

In Conclusion
This is a truly first class example of a 1960s vintage Rolex Precision which is ready to wear and completely practical for every day use. If treated with care it will make an excellent investment or heirloom piece and even though vintage gold Rolex prices have risen markedly recently, we feel good examples such as this are still undervalued. As each year goes by and the world market for vintage gold Rolex watches continues to expand, prices will climb ever higher.
