Omega 18K Auto Centenary Chronometer Cal 331 1947/48 In Stunning Condition.
Description: An early 1947/1948 Omega Centenary this is one of the very first Omega Centenary watches from the very first series, issued to celebrate the first 100 years of outstanding success for Omega watches. During this period, Omega established themselves as easily the world’s leading Swiss watch company both in terms of sales and standards. All produced in 18K gold cases these were the world’s first Automatic Chronometer grade watches and also the world’s slimmest automatics. Note. Chronometer grade watches were independently tested for accuracy and reliability and had to achieve the highest possible standards. These Centenary Chronometer watches were were so popular that the series was extended and further extended to eventually be developed into the top of the range Omega Constellation which is still produced to this day.
For Collectors and Investors: This example has the important early and rare, highly sought after ‘JUB 30.10 RA PC’ movement (only 4000 pieces were ever made).
The Case: Large Size Measuring 35mm Diameter not including the Omega Crown. Beautiful condition, no scratches marks or dings which is only just short of incredible given its 65 yrs! Case number 10724329.
The Dial; No imperfections visible to the naked eye. Absolutely beautiful, even under high magnification. May have been restored at some point, but if so has been done to the highest possible standards.
The Movement : Serial Number 10680489, Rare Caliber 331 (very small production run of 4000). Winds and sets perfectly. Running strongly and keeping accurate time.
